Miloslav Ištvan Quartett is a string quartet, which concentrates on interpretation of classical music, particularly on works of 20th and 21th century composers. Ensemble was founded in 2008 and its name got at the occasion of commemorative concert of composer Miloslav Ištvan, one of the legends of czech avant-garde movement in 1960’s. During its existence ensemble performed many of interesting concerts, among others premieres for the Studio of contemporary music in Brno and festival performances at the New Music Exposition, New music encountres plus, Janáček Brno, Concentus Moraviae, or the Forfest. One of the most celebrated performances of the quartet took place in 2015, when Maurice Ravel’s and Josef Suk’s compositions were performed within the concert “Begegnung mit dem Nachbarn”, which is organized by ORF and Czech Radio 3 Vltava.
